Vegan for Lent—Day 3

Vegan for Lent—Day 3

I broke my 3-day fast a few hours early due to stress from dealing with four of my bank’s customer service representatives over my new debit card snafu. I wanted a beer, so I had that and some raw cashews.

Then, later, I had three street tortillas with Daiya Vegan Cheddar Shreds. That stuff isn’t bad. The only problem is that I have to consume it in 7 days after opening. That’s annoying.

For dinner I made Soyrizo and potato street tacos, again with the Daiya cheese and Chulula sauce.

They were awful. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid—food that tries to be other food.

I’m was not a fan of the mushy texture or the flavor of the Soyrizo. Also, when I cut a piece of it out of it’s plastic casing an put it into a bowl, it looked like a red piece of shit in a bowl—so there’s that.

For dessert, I made Bananas Foster with vegan vanilla ice cream. I used coconut oil instead of butter and rum I had infused with bananas three days ago. It tasted great, but I overcooked the bananas; they really only need to be in there for the time it takes to coat them with the sauce and set it on fire.

Although I am not drinking hard liquor during Lent, I had more rum with dessert and watched Pete Davidson’s Netflix special which was alright.
